Along with painting portraits during the pandemic, a bottle of left-over acrylic ink led me to explore abstraction through automatic mark-making. Whereas my previous artworks may have begun with an object, reference photograph, or pre-thought, the following works on paper denote a freer sensibility. From 2022, these groupings range in size from 9" x 24", 12" x 18" to 27 x 24".
